I have an addiction problem. It’s been gradually escalating for some time. Now at a point where I have little brown paper bags stuffed in every corner of the house (wardrobe, laundry, pantry, the list goes on), constantly hiding my addiction from my husband.
Someone needs to sign me up for candles anonymous because I have a full-blown candle addiction, with my Prahran apartment a muddle of more scents than Angelina has babies. If forced to make a choice, I would probably choose to give up meat from the grocery shop than my weekly vessel of wax.
Like some weird dependence, you can often find me in Handworks Nouveau Paperie on Chapel Street lunging the beautiful rainbow of uncomplicated scents from one of my favourite Australian candle manufacturers, Circa Home.
So when Circa Home asked if I’d review their new, limited edition Honeyflower and Sandalwood Classic Candle that’s out for Mother’s Day, I, without-encouragement, leapt off the CA bandwagon.

Forget Tiffanys, the goods inside the signature duck egg-coloured little boxes from Circa Home are just as drool-worthy, especially this latest edition. The natural, Australian-made soy wax candle (RRP $32.95) is infused with the creamy scents of honeyflower and sandalwood, which are reminiscent of Giorgio Armani’s Si perfume. Rich and cosy in fragrance, it’s also quite true to the candle’s tagline, ‘as warm and inviting as a hug from Mum’. And given Mum is 736 kilometres away, I can do with all the faux mum-love I can get.
With the word ‘gratitude’ scrawled in beautiful typography on the front, it prompts you to think about what you’re grateful for. Given it’s weekend time, today I’m grateful for cheese, champagne and a deliciously-smelling CANDLE that’s almost good enough to eat!
